The Oxus mission is to help our corporate HR customers in China communicate their employment offerings in the best way possible to attract the talent they seek and want to keep.
We aim to do this professionally, powerfully and effectively, working to develop and deploy new weapons that will win the ‘war for talent’. Our services cut across all stages of the employment process – from talent acquisition to engagement.
We base our offerings around three core areas – employment message, talent channels and candidate response management. In other words we are constantly seeking to develop our expertise and creativity in the areas of employer branding, recruitment media and candidate relationship management software (ATS) services then fit all the piece together. Modern recruitment and retention is a joined-up process.
Our belief is that disruptive technological changes, combined with changing needs and attitudes of employers and job seekers has created a demand for innovative employment marketing and management services not currently met by the recruitment industry in China.
In focusing on these three inter-related talent acquisition and engagement disciplines we are trying to help our clients move away from the widespread ad hoc and tactical practices that can be characterized as over-reliance on headhunters and inefficient use of the big job boards. In our opinion this is too expensive on the one hand, too difficult to manage on the other and certainly not the way the most advanced companies are working.

Mark Baldwin – Managing Director
Founder and former CEO of Zhilian Zhaopin Ltd, Mark has been involved in recruitment and HR management since leaving London University in the early 1980’s. Following stints in British Telecoms and the oil and gas industry in England, Mark ran a successful headhunting company in Hong Kong before setting up Alliance Executive Search in Beijing in 1995. He started Zhaopin.com the following year and grew the brand to become one of the most famous HR companies in China. He resigned from Zhaopin’s Board in 2006.

Shou Xiaoying – Head of Research
Shoushou spent seven year’s in UK before qualifying with a MSc Degree in Occupational Psychology in 2005 from Nottingham University. Before joining Oxus as a founding partner she worked as a lecturer at Geeley University and on the development of psychometric tools for the Chinese market. Shoushou has gained extensive experience running employer brand research programs and has especially deep knowledge in the healthcare and retail sectors.

Robert Dean – Client Services Director
Rob first came to China in 1994 to study Chinese at the Beijing Institute of Language and Culture. Since graduating in 1995 he has worked in marketing and client services positions in the logistics, real estate and at on-line recruitment industries where he set up and ran the education and training business at Zhaopin.com. Rob is a qualified photo journalist and has gained extensive experience in running employer branding and campus marketing campaigns for major organizations including Microsoft, Intel, Yum! Brands, Deutsche Bank and more recently our clients in the healthcare industry.
